About Us

Four countries, one shared objective: advancing Alzheimer's therapy.

The ROSSCA Consortium has been defined as to be composed by top international scientific groups with the exact complementary expertise and know how needed to achieve the challenge of producing a ready-to-transfer new type of therapeutic platform against Alzheimer Disease. ROSSCA will enable this competitive technology at the regional and national levels for all teams participating in the Consortium. The benefit of this technology includes not only new biocatalytic materials and the devices to activate them by magnetic fields, but also all steps from bench testing of catalytic function to neuroprotective efficacy in AD animal models.

Our Story. Our principles

The ROSSCA project is an international partnership among academic members from EU and Latin America States.

The envirnmental dimensions of the project starts with actions focused on a green production of the nanomaterials, addressed by proposing what we believe is perhaps the greenest route and materials that can produce these complex biomaterials: a one step, sonochemical route to produce grams of nanomaterials ready-to-use. This choice implies a circularity concept of resources used efficiently, with energy consumption and waste minimized.

A second environmental dimension is the assessment of the overall ecological footprint of nanomaterials by evaluating their potential toxicity. The health impact of these nanomaterials is granted by a full evaluation of genotoxicity as an essential component in the safety assessment of all types of substances and nanomaterials. The exhaustive pre-screening before animal studies are inherent to ROSSCA, and follows the principle of 3R: Replacement, Reduction and Refinement.

With a Consortium predominantly represented by women, with a 75% at the decision-making level, and about 62% of the total initial staff composition, we aim to attract young female researchers to the Project, by supporting the organization of training and outreach activities targeted to the gender-related aspects that are previewed by the Networking and communication planning. The Consortium will adhere to the principle of equal opportunities, equal treatment, and non-discrimination, as a cornerstone aspect in the planning of the research and training activities.
